When my mom had me take up golf as a kid, she did it because it’s a “life sport.” But even though I’ll be able to play well into my 60s and 70s (if I live that long), there’s another reason the game of golf holds a special place in my heart — it’s one of the only sports where drinking is completely acceptable and encouraged, hence why so many golfers enjoy beers before, during, and after a round of 18.
English professional golfer Andrew “Beef” Johnston is no exception to the rule, as evidenced by his interview after winning The Spanish Open today where he said, “I can’t wait to get back to North Mid [North Middlesex Golf Club], get hammered and see my mom and brother and spend time with them and just celebrate.”

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone considering his nickname is “Beef” and he has a beard that just looks like it would look great with foam dripping off of it after pounding some bronsons out of his trophy. You can’t not love this guy.
And as a sidenote, you know who else loves pounding beers after winning tournaments? SPIETH.
Beers and golf, a match made in heaven. .

I wish Jordan would have been in Hilton Head with a cooler of beer last week
He’s the hero we need, but don’t deserve.
