On the heels of Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s MBA program rankings, a graduate from MIT’s Sloan Business School just signed on for a total first-year compensation package of $1.8 million at an unnamed real estate company. Yep. $1,825,000 in salary, bonus, stock, and benefits. A Columbia Business School graduate is reporting a $1,000,000 bonus at a consulting firm. Giancarlo Stanton signed a MLB-record $325 million dollar contract. 2014 is, apparently, the year to make an absolute killing.
To put this in perspective, last year, the top reported salary for MBA grads was $375,000 a year, although a Stanford grad signed on for a $300,000+ bonus. In fact, the previous highest compensation on record was a Wharton grad in 2004 who pulled in $680,000. None of these numbers come close to the $1,825,000 reported haul of 2014, though.
As you struggle to pay rent with your $40k and dental, you might want to dust off the old GMAT books and get your letters of recommendation in order. Or, you know, have a dad who owns a real estate empire.

Please cut this shit out. Salt in the wound, guys.
Rub some salt in it
I don’t even have to read this. That is one of the greatest pics I’ve ever seen.
Thanks for reminding me of my poor choices.
What exactly is noteworthy here? MIT grad makes a lot of money? Stop the presses!
Bert, he’s making 11x the already-high average. For a MBA right out of school, top school or not, $1.8 mil is winning the lottery
I mean it’s not unimpressive at face value but it still just comes across as “guy that went to a school you go to to get rich, got rich”
It’s either this or “8 Cats Listening To Coldplay Who Make You Reconsider Feminism” man
Well it’s not our fault you still let Catie Warren bang her head on the keyboard.
Fair enough, at least you can admit you’re out of ideas. Happens to every writer. Kind of amazing it’s happened to an entire staff though
Yes and no, Bert. First off, it’s not my real job. I contribute when I’m slacking off at work, more or less. Second, the name of the game is clicks and shares, and a lot of well-written stuff doesn’t get the attention it would need to justify the time spent writing it. The numbers don’t lie, unfortunately.
I completely get that. I’m not calling you or anyone out directly. I just think there’s a ton of writing talent on this staff and really don’t want to see it wasted on buzzfeed type bullshit
