I started following @PFTCommenter towards the end of the 2012 NFL regular season. My hometown Kansas City Chiefs were on their way to the number one overall pick in the draft and I merely needed a reason to watch football. It was the only thing that gave me joy on Sundays. Once I realized how pathetic that sounded, a RT came across my timeline from someone called “@PFTCommenter.” An obvious parody account. The disdain I feel towards most “parody” accounts on Twitter cannot be expressed through words. Something was different about this guy though. He was funny. He was original, IMO. He had about 2,000 followers at the time and has now amassed nearly 19,000 followers. It’s a brilliant satire of the sad 34-55 year-old, pathetic NFL fan who lives for Sundays, spends all day commenting on Peter King and Pete Prisco articles, and delivers the hottest of takes.
If you’re going to follow one Twitter account this season, folks, make sure it’s this guy.
