From the heavy hits of “Get Rich Or Die Tryin” to the rather straightforward promise in the lyrics of “I Get Money”, 50 Cent is all about making it big and getting that paper. And apparently, with his music you can too.
In a new report published in Social Psychological & Personality Science, researchers have found that listening to certain types of music can alter the way in which your approach and perform in workplace situations.
Specifically, in cases where you feel empowered by “high-power” music you’ve listened to, you’re more apt to be proactive in making the first offer in negotiations, take charge of the situations, and overall get in the right frame of mind to perform power moves. Some moves, researchers found, that may land you that job you’ve always longed for.
So what is this “high-power” music? After testing a number of different songs, the study found the most-effective tracks were anthemic and bass-heavy. One of the most-shining example? “In Da Club.”
I’ve always thought the ridiculous booming bass of my Beats headphones and my affectation for bumpin’ early-2000s Fiddy jams made me more powerful. Now, I have proof.

I’ve found that “anthemic and bass-heavy” songs are also ideal for a workout mix.
