“You know how funerals are not for the dead, they’re for the living?”
BILL FUCKING MURRAY. The legend himself crashed a random bachelor party over the weekend and dropped some insanely profound, hilarious wisdom on some random dudes in Charleston, SC. The video is not on YouTube yet, but you can watch it on DEADSPIN.
This is the story according to Deadspin reader “Stephen”:
Over Memorial Day weekend, 20 of my buddies from Boston College got together in Charleston for our friend EJ’s bachelor party. At one point during dinner at a steakhouse, one guy goes to the bathroom downstairs and sees Bill Murray sitting with some people with a fishing vest on. We talked to the waiter to see if we could send him some drinks, to which Bill declined. One of my buddies then went down and asked if he’d come up and say a few words for EJ and got a “No thanks.” My buddy comes back up dejected and tells us it’s not going to happen. Two minutes later, Bill fucking Murray walks into the room and gives this speech.
It’s well-known that BFM loves making random appearances in the lives of the unsuspecting, whether it’s eating part of someone’s meal and telling them “No one will ever believe you” or hopping behind a random bar in Austin during SXSW to bartend – the man is a legend walking among us, watching silently from the wings, waiting for his chance to make some magic whenever he damn feels like it. This is up there in the echelon of great Bill Murray stories.
