“Tommy Boy” stands as the ultimate “buddy comedy” of the 1990s. Chris Farley and David Spade in their prime, the DiMaggio and Mantle of ’90s comedy. So why not learn a little bit more about it?
Chris Farley got in a fight with David Spade on set because Spade went out drinking with Rob Lowe the night before and didn’t invite him.
Marquette University is actually Chris Farley’s real alma mater.
When Tommy finds out he passed his final college class, “Helen Keller” appears at the bottom of the grade sheet. She got an F.
Roseanne Barr was supposed to play the waitress Helen, but she was busy.
It’s based off of “Hamlet.” Seriously.
David Spade’s hair sucks in the movie because he refused to let the on-set hairdresser do his hair.
Tommy says “Son of a…” 10 times throughout the movie.
Richard’s car is 1967 Plymouth GTX. Those cars are now worth $40,000.

Chris Farley was also on the rugby team at Marquette. So that is accurate as well. Guy was probably one hell of a prop.
Okay, “ultimate buddy comedy of the 90s” is a bit of a stretch. While Tommy Boy is up there, I don’t know if it outranks the likes of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Wayne’s World, Wayne’s World 2, and Swingers.
Wayne’s World 2 over Tommy Boy? Sounds like you’ve been spending too much time staring at spreadsheets.
Why don’t you sit a few plays out
Bill and Ted?!? GTFO!
Let’s not forget “Air Bud.” I mean, “Bud” is right there in the name.
I bought the sound track to this movie back in the day.
