Do you ever sit at your computer wishing your Facebook did more than just provide a repository for pictures that will later be used against you in a political campaign? Or maybe you’ve wished that LinkedIn had jobs you qualified for, not jobs that you might qualify for in 10 years. Collegefeed, a new hybrid of the two sites, might be what you’re looking for.
The site is in it’s infancy, but I went ahead and created an account to give it a quick once-over. It imports photos from Facebook, and can pull all your professional data from LinkedIn, aggregating both profiles into something useable, as long as you keep your Facebook out of the realm of “I’m Schmacked: Facebook Edition.” The whole interface is really intuitive, and it actually had jobs I might be interested in, unlike LinkedIn.
The big draw with Collegefeed is that it’s directed at recent grads and current undergrads. This isn’t a site for industry veterans, and that’s a good thing when you’re competing in a less than ideal job market. As long as you can merge professional and casual elements of your social life well, this site could be a boon to your job hunt. It even allows you to showcase undergraduate work in your accomplishments, which might help in certain job hunts.
After playing around with it a bit, I’d say give it a shot. The worst that could happen is you might get an interview or two out of it, right?
