Club Cool’s four original members joined up for a Roundtable version of the pod last Wednesday to cover a range of topics and answer some listener questions. It was a stellar 85 minutes of conversation that I highly recommend listening to.
Ross, Will, Phil, and I begin by discussing the joys of people watching at big music festivals. What compels people to wear skinny jeans, lace-up boots, and leather jackets in near triple-digit heat? We may never know. What we do know, however, is that chicks still love Gucci belts and cutoff jean shorts, young dudes still love throwback NBA jerseys, and EVERYBODY is wearing a wide-brim hat now. What about a couple rocking his-and-hers Cream Yeezy 350s in the middle of a muddy park? Is that a big-time flex or downright crazy? Either way, it happened. A very tall man in tights with cowboy boots? Of course, we saw that too.
Next, we jumped in to a Pop Culture Minute. Did we border on insensitivity by talking about all the negative horror surrounding the Mac Miller, Ariana Grande, and Pete Davidson love triangle? Yes, we probably did, but then we had a great time wishing that we were tech CEOs since nowadays that means you get to date your choice of A-list model or movie star. And how about that John Mayer character? The dude is the best social media whiz in the game, not to mention being an all-time style icon, and he just celebrated a birthday. Big shouts to our boy JM.
The Roundtable loves a good sneaker conversation, and on v16 we answered a really fun question: What is your all-time sneaker Holy Grail? We each gave our pick, and I was honestly taken aback by the profundity of each carefully considered answer. I also dished out stories regarding my first two StockX purchases ever which came with varying degrees of success and failure.
Finally, we listened to some voicemails, including one from the legendary town of Bone City. What’s the right pair of slip-on sneakers to swap in for a pair of Sperrys? What’s the most versatile sneaker color? What type of t-shirt do you wear under a sweater or sweatshirt, and should you tuck it in? Do you ever outgrow dressing up for Halloween? We answered each of these questions as best we could, but I’m pretty sure we nailed all of the answers.
