Welcome back to another edition of amateur wine reviews. Continuing with the trend set by last week’s, the Cush household is still on a Trader Joe’s kick and will be for the foreseeable future. Buckle up. As last week’s tasting was such a success, we decided to stick with the canned wine for another week to see if the good luck would keep rolling. The Mrs. and I selected the Too Uncanny Rosé as our wine of the week because everyone loves a nice Rosé, especially in the heat of summer.

This can (and several others) were purchased at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning and the cashier cast no judgement whatsoever. I fucking love TJs.
Price
All of these Too Uncanny cans are $3 from what I have seen, and as we have already established, that price point is nothing short of a bargain considering the amount of wine you get. For less than the cost of that salad you plan on getting for lunch, you could catch a healthy buzz off of a couple of these cans from Trader Joe’s. There is just no beating that.

Taste
Instead of drinking this from the can, this Rosé was consumed from stemless wine glasses with four (4) ice cubes. This was necessary because, unfortunately, the wine was still a tad warm from sitting in the car for a stint. This may or may not have had a large affect on its taste.
My first impression was that this Rosé was a bit more orange or fleshy in color compared to other Rosés. From a very small amount of research on the internet, I am lead to believe that the color could be attributed to this Rosé being made using similar grapes found in Pinot Noir, which essentially means nothing to me.
Getting straight to the point, this wine was average. The Mrs. put it perfectly. “I like this, but I am not in love with it.” It was very very light so we are dealing with another crushable wine here which is the major draw for Rosé, especially during the summer time. With it being so light, I could make out two primary flavors: some sort of melon, and sour. Just sour. Like rhubarb. Not a strawberry rhubarb pie (which Mrs. Cush makes a killer version of) but raw rhubarb. In the end when the ice had melted a substantial amount the wine was just sour water pretty much. The label makes the claim that the wine is “delicately fruity,” but I tend to think even the word “delicate” has overstated its flavor profile. I don’t regret drinking it, but I have certainly tasted better. It gets a pedestrian rating for taste.

Who knows, maybe this tastes better frozen. With a couple of strawberries. Or a dash of sugar. Or if I was blackout. If someone tosses me a can of this, I am not going to turn it down because it is drinkable. That being said, I doubt I will be spending my hard earned $3 on this again when I know Trader Joe’s has much better options available..

PAS: Don’t go to Trader Joes on a Sunday late afternoon/early evening unless you want to feel like Schwarzenegger trying to get Turbo Man at the mall
It’s 2018 so as someone who identifies as a manly man, I’m not afraid to say that rosé is quickly moving up the ranks of my summer drink rotation and I may or may not spend a few hours every day thinking of a cute caption for my next Instagram post with a rosé by the pool
As someone who has never had rosé (come at me workfromhome) your opinion of the drink has persuaded me to try it. Thanks 19th.
My interest in this beverage went from a 2 to a 10 upon finding out it is sold in easy can form.
Another well played review. Stick to the rules and you can’t lose:
– greater than or equal to 13.5%
– under $14 (I believe all the canned items at TJs will meet this requirement)
-Cab, malbec, or pinot
1/3 is pretty good in baseball, but clearly not wine selections at the Teej. Better luck next week.
