Before season 6 started last year, we launched a Game of Thrones podcast called Oysters, Clams & Cockles for fans of the show who aren’t total nerds, but can’t get enough of it. Every Monday, we recap and discuss Sunday’s episode of the show with a new podcast. Every Thursday, we play the best listener phone calls from our hotline, answer questions and address relevant theories with a new podcast.
There are plenty of Game of Thrones podcasts out there hosted by total dorks, and we wanted to provide our PGP family with a more down to earth, cool approach to reliving and recapping the show every week. The vibe is like if you were talking Game of Thrones at happy hour with your friends, having some drinks, and disecting the most recent episode. That’s what we’re all about.

In today’s podcast, which is available now to subscribers on iTunes (and you can listen below on SoundCloud), we relive last night’s episode of Game of Thrones — “Stormborn.” One thing no one can say is that this season is lacking in story progression. Pieces were flying all over the board. Things are moving very, very quickly. We recap all of the most important scenes and debate on how what unfolded in this episode will impact the rest of the season.

I want a midweek episode of Dorn’s thoughts on season one.
Based on the only reaction he gave on Twitter of “Hmmm” I’m not sure he’s going to have much to bring to the table.
Was so hungover this morning that when I saw some of my coworkers were already in the break room recapping the weekend, I Theon’d and bolted to the safety of my cubicle.
Consistently the worst character on the show.
Nah, I was happier when those two Dornish broads were killed than when Joffrey or Ramsey died.
I just can’t get over his betrayal of the Starks. Joffrey was a real piece of shit, but at least they killed him off. How many more times do we have to see Theon be a coward?
To be fair, what else could he have done? He was surrounded by enemies on a burning ship, his allies were all dead, and his uncle had an axe to his sister’s throat. He could have charged Euron, gotten Yara’s throat slit and himself killed in the process, or he could jump overboard and live to fight another day. I’m hoping that he still comes through to save Yara, but there was shit all else for him to do in that situation.
I’m not saying Theon doesn’t suck, I’m just saying at least his character provides substance to the show and has developed/evolved over time. And I do think he does something redeeming like try to save his sister at some point, perhaps getting killed in the process but who knows. Could kill Cersei and fulfill the prophecy of her dying at the hands of the “little brother”; now that would be a wild twist.
