I’ve been known to ditch out of work now and again for a special event. And by special event, I mean day drinking with some friends who happen to be in town or spending a whole day in bed wondering why I thought drinking multiple bottles of wine on a Sunday was a good idea. For those occasions, I either call in sick or take one of my precious vacation days. But one Texas woman took an unusual route to getting the day off – she asked an NFL star to write her a note to get her excused from work. And the best part? He did.
Ashlee Sanchez from Brownsville, Texas bought tickets to the J.J. Watt Charity Classic, a softball game that benefits the J.J. Watt Foundation which provides funding for after-school athletic programs. Unfortunately, Ashlee was scheduled to work on Friday at a new job, so she wasn’t going to attend because she wasn’t comfortable asking for time off so soon after she started. So she sent J.J. this tweet:
If only @JJWatt can write me a letter to excuse me from work on Friday because I already have tickets to the game and I can't miss it!!! 😔

And to her surprise, she got this tweet back about five hours later:

And what did Ashlee’s boss do?

Everyone in this situation is pretty cool. Now, do you think I can get Roger Goodell to write me a note for my 8:00 a.m. Friday meeting so I can stay up to watch the draft Thursday night?.

Gronk would do this if he could read.
