One of my worst fears is falling through the subway grates you see on city sidewalks. Even though “Along Came Polly” taught me that I only have a one in 46,000 chance of that happening, I still avoid the damn things at all costs. Unfortunately for me, however, avoiding the grates doesn’t seem to be playing it safe enough — because people are now falling through the sidewalks. Now, Ben Stiller didn’t teach me what the chances of that happening are, but it is now clear that if you want to stay safe, then you pretty much just need to hunker down and stay home forever.
Did you see that? I’ll hang on while you watch it again. That is ridiculous. Just fell through the damn ground. For once, I’m actually thankful that I drive to work. While the traffic sucks and people in Austin cannot drive for shit, at least I’ll have airbags to break the fall if the road decides to open up and swallow me whole. .
