Obama is on his farewell tour and his stock legitimately could not be higher. Based on last night’s assenting Twitter feed alone, he could’ve walked off-stage with two middle fingers in the air and people would’ve hailed him for being gracious in his exit.
This past weekend, he enjoyed a farewell party with his staff members that lasted until 4 a.m., Saturday morning. Shortly after the party, he flew to Florida (no, not for a round of golf) to be in the wedding of another staff member. I know he’s the President so time doesn’t affect him, but staying up all night with your staff drinking top-shelf scotch only to catch a flight that early (or late?) is something only Dan Bilzerian and The Chainsmokers are capable of. But then to parlay that into being in a wedding? Well, that’s just the stuff legends are made of.
Hell, I struggle to attend wedding after I stay up until midnight after the rehearsal dinner.
But with that being said, I an issue with this entire situation – cocky move by this dude to have Obama as one of his groomsmen. Even cockier move to not make him your best man. I maybe understand including your boss (if you’re close) as a means of goodwill in an effort to get a promotion down the line, but the President of The United States of America? Do a little less, dude.
Even cockier is that it appears as though John Kerry is the wedding officiant. Way to big time everyone by using your wedding, man. Last time I checked, that last thing you want to do at your wedding is upstage the bride yet all everyone’s going to talk about is how you tossed Obama in the middle of your groomsmen and had The Secretary of State officiate everything.
No word on whether or not Obama made a speech and/or took a run at any bridesmaids, though. .
