When Apple announced that they would be releasing a new iPhone 7 today, you knew there were going to be some crazy people out there getting their hands on one. No one is as crazy as superfan Attapon Thapaengphan (good luck pronouncing that one) who is from Bangkok and traveled all the way to Syndey Australia to wait in line for the new phone.
Sydney, of course, is where Apple’s flagship store is so the store itself is kind of a big deal. Attapon even had to face some pretty tough conditions when he arrived in line.
From Daily Mail:
He then spent a cold and wet night outside holding down his spot, dressed in just a hoodie and dark jacket, remarking to his friends back home that he should have brought more than two layers.
The social butterfly did manage to duck out and grab Korean barbecue for dinner with two friends before heading back to the line.
At another point he was able to sneak out to a nearby McDonald’s to recharge his phone, buying a hot chocolate so he could stay until his battery was full.
What an absolute buffoon. He covers the iPhone for work and all that jazz. I get it – going to stand in line at the Apple store for a brand new phone was cool…back in 2009. When I got my first iPhone, I stood in line at the AT&T store because I knew lines would be shorter and I could arrive two hours prior and not any longer. Fun fact: Martellus Bennett came to the store and tried to cut the line, but AT&T wasn’t having it. Suck it, Marty B.
But really, ever since Apple allowed customers to pre-order it and get it delivered to my house, it was game over from there. If I have to wait to weeks, it’s better than sitting in a line for hours on end. .
